Position Title:   Case Worker-Full Time

The Samaritan Inn case worker will provide ongoing support and expertise through comprehensive assessment, planning, implementation and overall evaluation of the individual and family needs regarding the  strengths and limitations and of the educational, social, financial, and community resources available to them. These include, but are not limited to, implementing the service plan aimed at mobilizing not only the formal, but informal resources, services needed to maximize the resident’s educational, physical, social, and emotional well-being, and coordinating and monitoring service delivery.  The case worker focuses particularly on how these resources relate to the principal concerns of permanent housing identified during the assessment.

Additional responsibilities and skills required

• Working closely with Independent School Districts
• Experience in working with multicultural settings.
• Working in a non-profit environment.
• Understanding of homelessness and influencing factors.
• Computer literate, multitask capabilities, flexible; ability to work under pressure; ability to work on a team; must have great written and oral skills.  
• Complete expanded assessment of residents needs at time of entry.
• Assess resident’s care/progress throughout the time of stay.
• Collaborate with clinical staff in the development and execution of the plan of care.
• Evaluate resident satisfaction.
• Coordinate the provision of social services and community supports.
• Serve as resident advocate for services and transition into the community.

 
Education

A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or the behavioral health field or previous experience in the Field.  Candidate must have experience in working with homeless adults and families.

Parkland VIP Center

Open Positions for Victim Intervention Program (VIP) / Rape Crisis at Parkland Health & Hospital System.

Client Advocate I - This full-time position is for a  who will work as part of the Rapid Response Team of Victim Intervention Program (VIP) / Rape Crisis. The Rapid Response Team intervenes with victims of family violence and/or sexual assault at Parkland Hospital to provide crisis intervention, emotional support, information and resource referrals 24/7. They also interact with hospital staff, doctors, nurses, social workers, law enforcement from various parts of the county and other medical professionals. We would prefer bilingual skills (Spanish), but that is not a requirement.

The Advocates are centered out of the Crisis Support Center where we provide counseling services for clients 4 years and older. There are times when the Advocate may help with one of the counseling clients who need assistance or help a person who was a walk-in. She/he may also help with the crisis line for people who call in wanting information or assistance. The person will also help with on-call coverage for victims who come into the hospital after regular work hours.

BA degree in social work, criminal justice, or related field – or equivalent combination in education and experience. Good communication skills, ability to handle stress, excellent customer relations skills. This position is 40 hours per week, rotating shift. The pay range is posted on the website. Some hours on this shift will qualify for an additional evening or weekend differential.

Part-time General Clerk III – Clerk who helps with answering phones, greeting clients, scheduling, registering and discharging clients who come to the Crisis Support Center for counseling. Works 20 hours per week on Mon-Wed evenings 4:00 – 8:00 pm and Saturday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm. This person works closely with counselors and advocates to assist victims of violence. She/he plays a key role for the clinic – setting the right tone of welcome and safety. At some times, the Clerk may be asked to work additional hours to cover for illness or vacations.

Must have 5 years clerical experience, excellent communication skills, ability to work in stressful environments, and must be able to pass required tests for clerical positions. Prefer, but don’t require, bilingual skills (Spanish). Benefits are included in this part-time position.

Community Engagement Specialist - $35,000 – $38,000/yr
The Community Engagement Specialist is responsible for increasing community awareness of the Expect Respect program and engaging youth and their families in prevention activities and events as part of the Start Strong initiative.  This position is responsible for designing marketing materials (including print, electronic newsletter, website, social networking) targeting youth, parents, and youth serving organizations.
 
This position also serves as the Managing Director for the Changing Lives Youth Theatre Ensemble. Theatre Action Project and SafePlace collaborate in directing and promoting the Changing Lives Youth Theatre Ensemble. Changing Lives consists of high school students who come together to create compelling, interactive, educational theatre.  The Managing Director for the Changing Lives Youth Theatre Ensemble co-directs the ensemble with a Creative Director employed by Theatre Action Project.
 
Qualifications:
1.       Experience in designing and producing marketing and promotional materials targeting youth.
2.       Experience in engaging youth through theatre or other creative arts.
3.       Must have a strong drive and determination to advance creative ideas to increase youth and community engagement.
4.       Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in media and communications, theatre, marketing, education or a related field; and 3+ year’s of work experience
