Domestic Violence Youth Safety Plan
I. SAFETY WHEN THERE IS FIGHTING AT HOME
- If you are afraid that you or someone else will be hurt, you can call 911 for police help.
- Tell the police where you are calling from and give them the address.
- Tell the police who is being hurt, and who else is involved.
- Practice how to get out of your house safely. Think about which doors, windows or stairs would be best.
- Think of which neighbor you can go to for help.
CALL 911 FOR HELP
II. SAFETY AT SCHOOL
- If you or someone else is afraid of being hurt, tell:
- A Teacher
- A School Counselor
- A Principal
- A School Nurse
- A Parent
- An Adult you trust
- Call 911
- Ask your school to help each person write a safety plan.
REMEMBER: YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO BE SAFE
III. SAFETY ON THE STREET
- If you are afraid of being hurt:
- Go to the nearest store and ask them to call 911
- You can call 911 from a payphone. You don't need any money for this call.
- If there is not a phone or a store nearby, scream as loud as you can and run to safety.
- Tell a trusted adult what happened.

V. IF YOU CANNOT OR DO NOT WANT TO CALL 911 FOR THE POLICE
